Specification

Like a gentle lullaby of a mermaid swaying on the waves of the blue sea, the sound of the A Marmara is serene and soothing. It's a minor scale that was named after Marmara Island and has the smoothest tones of all RAV drums. Handpan and drum tongue music is usually associated with slow minor melodies. If you are looking for the same feeling, the A Marmara will be your dream instrument come true.

The A Marmara is a very special scale because it gives you access to the notes that no other RAV Vast is able to give you. However, this scale can be played by anyone, regardless of mastery level, and it will excite both beginners and advanced musicians.

The A Marmara has a melodic, calming and very relaxing minor sound. This RAV drum is made from thinner steel (1.5mm) which makes the vocals so tender. It is 1 kg lighter than most other RAV Vasts (the weight of the A Marmara is 4.9 kg).

The A Marmara is practically a combination of the Golden Gate and the A Integral RAV Vasts. It has the tension of the full scale and the nostalgic feel of the Golden Gate, but unlike these two scales, the A Marmara is much more manageable. You can actually think of the A Marmara as the scale tuned in C # if you put aside the Ding tuned in A2. This drum has a very similar layout to the A Integral range (except the missing G note). However, despite the similar progression of notes, these two scales offer an entirely different mood (major VS minor).

The steel tongues of the A Marmara are tuned in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th octave. This is a pentatonic scale which means that the same notes are replicated in stacked octaves. Thus, the A Marmara offers a comfortable position of two A notes (the Ding and the left note) to anchor the game.

The A Marmara is a Lydian based scale with changes in the 2nd and 6th note. All the notes work very well together. Although this scale has two halftones (G # 3-A3, D # 4-E4), there is not much dissonance. Even the sound fields above the tongues sound really good and there is no note that throws the whole scale. All languages have all the overtones very clearly audible on them.

Much like in the Golden Gate RAV Vast, the A Marmara has a few moves that define that particular scale, but what you add on top gives you variety and melody for whatever you play.

You can switch between minor sensation and major sensation by focusing on different areas of the drum. If you want to get a major feel, anchor yourself around the high level tabs on the top. And vice versa, go down to the base notes to enhance the minor feel.

There are a few chord progressions that you can play with the scale. But the main progression is the A (A2-E3-A3) and the triad just below (C # 3-G # 3-C # 4). You can create many harmonious melodies anchored around these note progressions (check out the official video to review the techniques).

Who this scale will work for

The A Marmara is a scale that can satisfy the 'musical tooth' of the beginner and seasoned musician.

As for beginners, the A Marmara is really easy to play. Much like the B RUS (RAV Universal Scale), the A Marmara is the scale with which you can learn a lot, just with a more melancholy feeling.

What is the reason why A Marmara has become the best RAV drum line from an experienced musician? This scale can broaden the spectrum of musical vocabulary you have. This range has a lot of cutting edges and that's what makes the sound very specific (and unique). The A Marmara has a bunch of notes that aren't featured in many other RAV Vasts. The A Marmara shines both in slower, more meditative playing and in very cordial types of orchestration. There are many dyads and triads available at this scale that allow you to create some truly captivating songs.

The A Marmara goes well with the tuned scales in D and sounds just as good when accompanied by the pentatonic minor flute in C #.
