Piano study for trade-in and reconditioning by our piano makers
The first stage of the selection process takes place in front of the instrument, which our qualified and experienced piano makers examine in detail. We can then negotiate the purchase according to make, model, year of manufacture and work to be carried out, to offer you an instrument in perfect condition at the best possible price.
We have restored top-of-the-range pianos such as Steinway & Sons, Fazioli, Bösendorfer, Bechstein, Sauter, Pleyel, A.Förster, Pfeiffer, Blüthner, Yamaha (Japan)… Others have had less extensive work carried out on them, such as Schimmel, Petrof, Yamaha (Indonesia), Kawai and a host of other manufacturers, as the cost of the work is also calculated according to the value of the instrument.
The piano is completely dismantled and cleaned before resale
Once in our workshop, the piano is completely dismantled and cleaned piece by piece. You can’t imagine the surprises we can find in inaccessible places, and unfortunately they are very rarely treasures… The next step is to check every part of the Keyboard, the action, and the Harmonics assembly.
Worn parts are systematically replaced. This can range from mortises or key coatings, pivots, springs, felts or hides on the action, if necessary hammerheads, right through to strings and pegs, staples, bridge points or table bridge soles (redone by hand) for highquality pianos.

As for the cabinet, all brass parts, pedals, hinges and screws, are deoxidized and polished for a shiny, like-new appearance. Scratches on polyester varnishes are sanded and repolished by hand to remove them. Wood-finish furniture is treated and restored to a beautiful appearance. In the most serious cases, we have the furniture completely refinished, stripped, stained, re-varnished and polished. This also means that if you want to change the color of your piano, it’s possible!
Once reassembled, the next step is to adjust the piano. Quickly said, but for an Upright piano, a complete adjustment involves no less than 24 steps for a single key, and there are 88 of them… Naturally, this can take several days.
3 tunings, then piano intonation
A minimum of three tunings are then carried out before intonation. Intonation, or harmonization, consists in working on the hardness of each Hammer to obtain the desired tone color. In the workshop, this is only done to obtain a nice evenness, but when you buy you can ask your dealer to customize the sound color of your piano according to your wishes.
A general check and a complete test are finally carried out, which enables us to offer a 5-year warranty for second-hand pianos. It is also at this point that the piano is put online on our site.
From small student pianos to concert grand pianos, our piano makers guarantee high-quality workmanship born of long experience in pianos of all makes and models, conscientiously and passionately.
