The specialist's opinion

The Korg ST-1K is a tuner dedicated to analog and modular synthesizers, designed by Korg, Japanese pioneers of electronic instruments and tuning technologies for decades.

Compact, precise and featuring a large LCD display, it is the benchmark for musicians wishing to keep their synths perfectly in tune, both in the studio and on stage.

Tuning accuracy down to ±0.1 cents

The ST-1K offers exceptional tuning accuracy of ±0.1 cents in strobe mode, a level of finesse normally reserved for high-end professional tuners. This precision is particularly valuable for analog synthesizers, whose pitch can drift slightly depending on ambient temperature or circuit warm-up time. It also enables fine microtuning between several oscillators in the same synthesizer, or between different modules in a Eurorack rack. The detection range extends from A0 (27.5 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz), with a reference frequency calibratable between 436 and 445 Hz in 1 Hz steps.

Three display modes and CMD 3D LCD screen

The ST-1K offers three display modes selectable according to the musician's preferences: classic Regular mode, Strobe mode and Half Strobe mode. The latter two modes indicate pitch variations by the direction and speed of the meter's flow, making detection of the tiniest deviations particularly intuitive and quick at a glance. The large CMD LCD display with 3D rendering offers excellent legibility, even in low ambient light, with real-time display of the note name.

Circuits optimized for modular synths and ultra-compact design

The ST-1K's circuitry has been specifically designed to accept high voltage levels without interference from LED noise, ensuring stable tuning even in the most complex modular configurations. The unit also incorporates a high-sensitivity microphone for cable-free tuning of Acoustic instruments. The 6.35 mm mono input and output jack connections enable it to be integrated directly into the signal chain. Dimensions: 99 x 65 x 16 mm. Weight: 83 g. Battery life: approx. 50 hours on two AAA batteries. A mini-jack to jack adapter is included.
