2'699.–The specialist's opinion
The magnificent, highly intimate recording of the medley "Over the rainbow/what a wonderful world" undoubtedly played a crucial role in ukuleles' return to the top with the general public.
It was performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole in 1988 but not released as a single until 2010 - 13 years after Iz's death - when it was elevated to hit status.
In memory of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, C.F. Martin created the 1T IZ ukulele. This superb satin-finish tenor ukulele is made of genuine dappled mahogany with a rosewood headstock inlaid with a pink abalone hibiscus flower and the name "Iz" in Hawaiian koa.
