Workshop program

Noé Largeron’s talk will focus on three main themes:

  1. From legendary plug-ins to modern production. How we transpose cult Synthesizers into today’s production environment, what we keep, what we adapt, and why certain design decisions make all the difference in the end.
  2. Keyboards optimized for the stage. What are the specific requirements of a live instrument when it needs to faithfully reproduce sounds from the V Collection or Pigments. This is whereAstroLab comes in (literally).
  3. The Arturia sound identity. How twenty-five years of meticulous analysis of classic synths finally crystallize a recognizable, in-house color, found in plug-ins and machines alike.

The workshop lasts around an hour, with live sound demonstrations and time for discussion. If you’ve got specific questions (about a patch, filter behavior, DAW integration), this is exactly the kind of time when they get answered.

AstroLab: the Arturia studio, ready for the stage

The AstroLab is Arturia’s gamble to fit twenty-five years of synth R&D into a stage keyboard. Inside, you’ll find a core based on the V Collection, Pigments, Augmented and Analog Lab Pro – the brand’s software ecosystem, this time designed to withstand the constraints of live performance: fast navigation between patches, seamless switching, robustness, ergonomics designed with keyboardists in mind.

During the workshop, AstroLab will serve as a red thread to show how an instrument is conceived when demanding sound design and live performance must meet in the same box.

Twenty-five years decoding legendary synths

If Arturia today speaks with such finesse of sound design, it’s because the company has spent a quarter-century peeling back the machines that made history. Founded in Grenoble in 1999, the brand first made a name for itself with its V Collection – Mini V, CS-80V, Jup-8 V, ARP 2600 V – emulations that have become production benchmarks. By dint of modeling these synths component by component, Arturia eventually developed its own sound color, which can be found in Pigments, Augmented, and the entire hardware range (MicroFreak, MiniFreak, MatrixBrute, PolyBrute, AstroLab).

To find out more about the brand’s trajectory, we’ve devoted a special report to Arturia and its 25 years of emulating legendary synths.

A workshop for all profiles

The event is explicitly open to all Synthesizer users and enthusiasts, with no technical prerequisites. In concrete terms, you’ll find something to suit you if :

  • You’re already using an Arturia product (software or hardware) and want to get more out of it.
  • You’re a live keyboardist and you’re interested in the AstroLab.
  • You’re a producer or musician curious about sound design and what goes on “under the hood” of an emulation.
  • You’re on the fence about investing in an Arturia synth, and prefer to listen, see and ask questions before deciding.

In the meantime, our Arturia Synthesizers department will be open for you to get your bearings before the workshop.
