Item No. : 206855
The specialist's opinion
The V71 module is the heart of the V-Drums 7 series kits, offering a fully re-recorded sound library in collaboration with the DW brand, as well as compatibility with DW Soundworks software for working on computers.
This module is also capable of making the most of our latest pads, including the PD-14DSX digital snare drum.
And thanks to its built-in Wireless connectivity and Roland Cloud Connect on your smartphone, you can fetch new sounds from an ever-expanding set of V-Drums Instrument Extensions, Kit Packs and more.
A new high-end design
The V71 is the most detailed and advanced module we've ever made. The famous physical-controller-based V-Drums operation is still there, but everything else has been improved. An ultra-powerful DSP and a vastly increased waveform memory give you access to expressiveness never before possible. Preset changes, sound edits and mix adjustments are even quicker and easier than before, thanks to an ultra-readable color display, revised working modes, manual controllers and an ergonomic control panel.
Premium sounds created from a blank page
The V71 module propels V-Drums sound into a whole new dimension of realism and creative control. All built-in Drums sounds have been created from instruments previously unavailable within any module. Sourced from some of the world's finest Drums, these record-ready sounds deliver the detail, punch and quality of the most expensive software collections on the market.

Recording process
The V71's sound library was recorded and mixed in 32-bit/192 kHz resolution in professional studios around the world, over the course of intense sessions conducted by renowned sound engineers who are experts in recording Drums. Much of it is the result of direct collaboration with DW in Oxnard, California, to ensure seamless communication between the module and the DW Soundworks software instrument.
Unparalleled expressiveness
Like the best drum sound banks available for computers, that of the V71 is packed with multi-samples read by Round-Robin ordering to provide a natural sound without a machine-gun effect. Roland's patented Behavior Modeling adds the finishing touch by providing smooth, artifact-free transitions for every articulation, with a potential 16,000 variations of Dynamic on our digital pads.
New sounds on demand
Previous V-Drums modules allow a wealth of sound-editing options, but these are limited and fixed in quantity, with no scope for additions. The V71 module turns this principle on its head, allowing you, for the first time, to modify its sound bank. By opening the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device, you gain wireless access to an ever-expanding collection of V-Drums instruments. You're sure to find the sound you're looking for, download it directly into the module and play it immediately.
When you buy a V71 module, you get a six-month subscription to Roland Cloud Ultimate. You then get unlimited access to everything it contains, including V-Drums Instrument Extensions, V-Drums Kit Packs, as well as DW Soundworks and its associated content. All you need to do is renew your subscription at the end of this trial period to stay constantly up to date with the latest Tones. If you unsubscribe, you'll still be able to enjoy your favorite sounds by purchasing them as a Lifetime Key. The choice is yours.
Enter the details with V-Edit
All built-in sounds and V-Drums Instrument Extensions are finely preset and ready to play without prior adjustment. But if you want to customize them, the V-Edit tools will help you do just that. Here you can adjust each shell or cymbal as if it were an acoustic element: type of skin, mute and tuning, Snare wire tension, pickup distance, etc.
Studio quality processing
The V71 is packed with professional-quality sound processing tools powered by our powerful new DSP. You have EQs and transient parameters for each sound layer, plus an EQ and compressor for each set of layers. Thanks to Bus FX, you can route and process each kit like a sound engineer sitting behind a large mixing console, using modern or vintage multi-effects, reverbs and more. And with new convolution-based ambience generators and kit overhead, room and resonance adjustments, you'll be able to produce all kinds of sounds, heard from the perspective of the drummer playing on stage or the audience listening in, wherever they're located in the room.
V71 Editor
V-Drums users have long been clamoring for editing software. Now it's a reality. Downloadable free of charge from Roland Cloud, V71 Editor lets you make your Adjustments using a mouse on your computer's wide screen. It works symbiotically with the module's V-Edit tools, so that every instrument change in the software is instantly applied in the module. The module's audio processing tools are also accessible here, so you can work just like in a music production program.
The V71 incorporates a Roland wireless adapter that connects to your network to give you access to Roland Cloud sound content from the Roland Cloud Connect app installed on your mobile device. Bluetooth audio and MIDI transmission is also available so you can play along to songs streamed from a smartphone, online courses or record MIDI files wirelessly into music production software.
Professional connectivity
The V71's rear panel features balanced outputs for professional audio connections: XLR and 1/4" jack Main outputs and eight 1/4" jack Direct outputs. Three high-speed Trigger inputs are intended for our advanced digital pads, and the 14 analog Trigger inputs are fully compatible with standard V-Pads. The stereo Mix input, meanwhile, is ideal for capturing the sounds of an external instrument such as an SPD multipad. An assignable footswitch input is also present, as is an SD card port for data backup, sample import, audio file playback and recording.
Multichannel audio and MIDI via USB
The module can be used as an audio/MIDI interface via USB to communicate with DW Soundwork, V71 Editor or other software. It lets you record up to 32 tracks in music production software using a single cable. Classic MIDI In/Out is also available for use with any type of MIDI instrument.
