Some trips are more memorable than others. In April 2026, I was lucky enough to travel to Madrid to preview the brand-new generation of Yamaha B Series student pianos. It was both a rewarding and, I must confess, rather exciting experience.
Invited by Yamaha, I was able to attend the official presentation of this new range in an exceptional setting. Beyond the event itself, it was above all an opportunity to take the time to listen, try out and understand what really sets these new instruments apart. And it has to be said that Yamaha has developed its Series B in a particularly relevant way.

What’s new in the B Series?
For many years, the B Series has been an essential reference for beginner pianists, families and music schools. With this new generation, Yamaha retains what has made it such a success: reliability, musicality and excellent value for money. And adds improvements directly inspired by its expertise in concert pianos.
Hammers inspired by the CFX
One of the most striking evolutions concerns the Hammers. They now benefit from a new Felt treatment process, originally developed for the prestigious CFX concert piano. The result is immediately perceptible: the sound gains in clarity, precision and purity.

A completely redesigned Spruce Soundboard
The Spruce soundboard has been completely redesigned. Combined with a back structure reinforced by five Ribs, it offers greater stability over time while promoting a richer, more generous resonance. The new, slightly taller models also benefit from an enlarged vibrating surface, resulting in a wider dynamic palette and fuller sonority.

Longer bass strings
Another notable improvement: the Bass Strings have been lengthened. This brings more depth, warmth and stability to the low register – a detail that makes a real difference both to the ear and under the fingers.
Lectern, retarder, finishes: ergonomic improvements
Yamaha has also paid particular attention to user comfort. The music stand has been enlarged, making it easier to read scores, especially large collections. A Fallboard is now integrated on all models, guaranteeing smoother, more secure lid closure.
Aesthetically, the Series has evolved with discretion yet elegance. The new black castors add a more contemporary, sober and refined touch.

Silent or TransAcoustic: to each his own way of playing
The new Series B will also be available in Silent and TransAcoustic versions.
Silent technology enables headphones to be used at all times, without disturbing those around you, while retaining the authentic touch of a real acoustic piano.

The TransAcoustic version, meanwhile, is particularly fascinating. It allows you to control the volume of the instrument without headphones, the Soundboard itself acting as a speaker. All the richness of an acoustic piano, with remarkable flexibility of use.

Frequently asked questions about the new Yamaha B Series
The first shipment is scheduled for June 2026 at Boullard Musique in Morges. The other models in the range will follow gradually. You can already contact us to book a test ride when they arrive.
The Silent version allows you to play your headphones in silence, retaining the touch of an acoustic piano – ideal for practicing at any time without disturbing the peace and quiet. The TransAcoustic version goes a step further: it uses the soundboard itself as a speaker, allowing you to modulate the volume without headphones, while retaining the richness of an acoustic piano.
While the B Series remains a benchmark for beginners, families and music schools, this new generation benefits from technical evolutions (CFX Hammers, redesigned Soundboard) that broaden its scope. It will be an ideal companion for conservatory students for several years before they consider a higher model.
