The Catalinbread Epoch Boost uses the same internal circuits as a real EP-3, with NOS Orange Drop capacitors on the output mixer stage.
The internal voltage has been boosted up to 22 volts just like the original unit, giving you unparalleled headroom and clarity. The Boost control only gives you the EP-3 tone when it's off, but adds up to 20dB of boost.
