The EF86 knob allows you to adjust the sound intensity of the EF86 once it is engaged with the EF86 switch. It's subtle but you'll hear an increase in volume and harmonic complexity. The Alnico / ceramic switch is a unique feature that allows you to recreate either the sound of a ceramic speaker or the sound of an alnico speaker. The ceramic speaker sound is typically tighter and more defined, while the alnico sound is typically looser, brighter, and more swampy. It all depends on what amp you are using but expect the alnico setting to be much louder.
