The handpan is an instrument absolutely suitable for beginners where percussion and melody meet.

Playing the handpan creates calming, spherical and enduring soundscapes that completely captivate both player and listener.

No previous experience or knowledge of music theory is necessary, as all the sound fields of the handpan are on a fixed scale. With most models, it is not possible to produce dissonant notes, that is, notes that sound "wrong". So you can follow your own intuition while playing and get lost in a short time in mysterious and dreamy melodies. With a little practice, of course, more complicated rhythms, captivating chords and two-part melodies are also possible. The Sela Majesty stainless steel handpans are made from the highest quality stainless steel and are handcrafted and tuned by some of the world's finest handpan makers. They sound even better than our popular stainless steel Harmony models. Stainless steel handpans have a much longer sustain than nitrided handpans and are therefore particularly suitable for slow, relaxing and meditative playing. At the same time, they are very easy to clean. The Sela Majesty handpans in stainless steel have a shiny bronze-colored finish, which gives a very noble, high-quality and at the same time mysterious appearance. Each model of the Majesty series also comes with a handpan string. The decorative strip protects the edge of the handpan and also gives it an individual appearance. The D Kurd tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of our best-selling ranges. The central note in the middle of the handpan is D3, around which the A3, Bb3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4 and A4 notes are arranged in a circle. This model also features four additional base notes on the underside of the handpan. These are the notes F3, G3, C5 and D5. Thanks to its brilliant sounding D minor scale, D Kurd can be used to play a wide variety of melodies, from calm and meditative to melancholy, powerful and joyful. With a total of 13 sound fields, there are many more playing possibilities than with a classic D Kurd handpan without backing notes, although this also increases the degree of difficulty. Nevertheless, the Majesty Handpan D Kurd 13 Stainless Steel is not only recommended for advanced players, each Sela Handpan comes with a ripstop nylon fabric bag which, thanks to its good lining, offers optimal protection during transport. It can be carried either by hand thanks to the two handles, or comfortably as a backpack thanks to the adjustable straps. A practical outer compartment offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.
