Terry Bozzio - Workshop of October 23, 2013

Posted on: Thursday 12 September 2013

Terry John Bozzio is an American drummer and percussionist born in San Francisco (California) on December 27, 1950. Classically trained, he then turned to rock while maintaining a very personal and sophisticated style. He particularly distinguished himself as the drummer of Frank Zappa, whose famous score he played The Black Page, known as being a nightmare for musicians. It is also distinguished by its gigantic set-ups comprising among other things many superimposed cymbals and tuned percussions which allow it to exhibit a virtuoso playing of great finesse. In 1979, after his participation in jazz-rock groups such as the UK, he founded the pop group Missing Persons with his wife Dale Bozzio on vocals, guitarist Warren Cucurullo and bassist Patrick O’Hearn, another ex-musician of Frank Zappa. He has collaborated with Tony Levin (the bassist of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel) and Steve Stevens of Billy Idol on jazz rock records, Black Light Syndrome (1997) and Situation Dangerous (2000). Terry Bozzio went on tour with the group Fantômas during 2005. He replaced Dave Lombardo because the latter was then in the studio with Slayer (his original group) 1. In May and June 2006, he participated as a guest on the Zappa Plays Zappa tours with the composer’s son, Dweezil Zappa2. In 2007, he replaced David Silveria of the group KoЯn (the latter taking a year off) for the recording of their last album. He was scheduled to tour the band for the summer festivals but was replaced by Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison.

He will be in our store for an exceptional workshop not to be missed!
