Luna is a piece written especially for the Ensemble Polygones, quintet for violin, cello, clarinet, horn and piano. His training so particular - and so rich - inspired me to search for a real '' palette '' of varied sound colors. This is the challenge that I wanted to take up in Luna.
Inspired by the Roman deities of light, it is articulated in three episodes.
A slow and hazy nocturnal explores dark tone alloys - often serious - evoking the nocturnal journey of the moon goddess (Luna). An incantatory phase calls for the light of dawn. It is made up of vibrating sound layers on which melismatic chants emerge (Aurora). It is actually a great ascent to a more lively and radiant episode (Sol).
Conceived in one piece, the piece changes the color of the quintet over the course of the different episodes - from chamber writing to a more orchestral tone. Atmospheres and colors lead to a climax - that of bursting light.
