Many of these changes are subtle but substantial. Yamaha has improved the shells by adopting thicker pleats, inspired by the Live Custom series, rounded chamfers to improve low frequencies and for better contact with the skin, Absolute shells with a single attachment point, new molded hooks and new pikes for bass drums, and especially snare drums equipped with 10 tie rods for more precision and tension in the tuning.
