This legendary model saw the light of day in 1965 as it became increasingly difficult to find pieces of Rio rosewood large enough to make two-piece backs.
To solve this problem, Martin assembled the back into three narrower pieces.
Two symmetrical on the outside and a piece of a different color in the center. To complete this new appearance, a binding has been added at the junction of the central piece and the binding of the table has gained in elegance. Today, the D-35's back and sides are made from Indian rosewood, but this guitar's unique construction gives it an unprecedented tone and look.
