A balanced amp, very well thought out, with a crazy crunch for an excellent value for money which makes it one of the references in this price range.
Specification
Extremely compact, the badger is light and will be very easily transportable and usable even in small places. The 30W version of the now popular Badger 18, the Badger 30 is equipped with EL34 and voiced differently from the latter. A little more powerful, a little more punchy / tense, with more present mids and tighter bass, the Badger 30 is clearly an amp cut out for BIG rock and much more!
3 modes of use are available. The mode `` without master volume '' which like the old Plexi does not need a master and is controlled only with the Volume knob and the EQ (Power and Drive buttons fully, bypassed) will allow you to get the best of the Badger 30 and a simply colossal amp! Magnificent very organic cleans, crunches to die for, the Badger 30 clearly pulls on the Vox side in this configuration, to turn Marshall as soon as we push the gain and take out the heavy artillery (Les Paul, SG 'n co. ..). The 2nd mode involves the Drive button which then takes on the role of Master, while the Volume serves as a Gain control. This makes the Badger 30 usable in 90% of situations and allows the gain to be pushed to its limits. The last mode activates the Power Scalling which allows to attenuate the power of the amp without modifying the relation between the HP and this one as would do a standard external attenuator or a load box. So you keep the grain and the natural dynamics of the amp even at low volumes. Ideal for playing at chamber volume.
The secret of the Badger? Its versatility !! And yes, it might sound surprising on 'paper' for a single channel, but the Badger allows a whole range of sounds from Clean / Blues to Hard Rock in a fraction of a second. The Badger accepts Boost / OD and Distortion pedals extremely well, it can be custom sculpted with them and be used 100% in this configuration. Adjusted slightly crunch, it will be played with the volume knob to recover superb cleans, and will allow to obtain a rich and extremely dynamic lead by associating it with some very good pedals.
