The Zoom R20 is arguably the easiest portable digital recorder to use.
With its 8 XLR inputs including 2 XLR / JACK combos and its touch screen, you can record multitrack and compose intuitively.
The interface is very similar to computer music software, the creation of loops and automation is done in no time. You will have inside, drum rhythms, a metronome, the possibility of recording MIDI. Files can be saved to an SD card up to 1TB. You can also use the R20 as an audio interface.
