Virtual studio rack
At the heart of Reason is a virtual rack that automatically builds up as you create your song. Add as many virtual devices to your rack as you need to get the sound you want. Reason's legendary instruments and effects cover all needs, whether for acoustic, real, electronic or synthetic sounds.
As you build your rack, all peripherals connect and are routed automatically. And if you go further, turn the rack over to access all the cables! Craft the sound you want by routing audio and CV freely between devices in your rack. The only limitation will be your imagination.
Capture your musical ideas in Reason's sequencer. Record and edit audio, MIDI or automation with powerful recording and editing tools. Quantize MIDI or audio to fix timing issues, or use the ReGroove Magic Swing to inject some groove into your footage. Reason's sequencer will make you go faster.
Record first, and then choose the beat thanks to Reason's famous timestretch. And with audio transposition, you can even record and then change the key afterwards. Fine-tune your vocal performances with Pitch Edit. Change the pitch non-destructively, correct the timing of your audio recording with Slice Edit. Or rework, resample, reshape your recordings to achieve a whole new tone.
Mixing
At the end of your work, Reason's mixer will give your tracks that big studio sound, straight from your computer. The mixer has been carefully modeled after the legendary SSL 9000k * analog mixer, with flexible routing, dynamics, EQs, full automation, parallel groups and channels, and its famous bus compression master.

With a huge supply of synthesizer sounds, sampled instruments, drum kits, loops and effects, Reason's soundbank has everything you need. Always open, Reason's browser makes it very easy to find the right sound, even in a huge library of samples. Want more? Extend your sound palette with the custom-made '' Refill '' banks for Reason!

Players: Add players to your favorite Reason instruments to generate a million new ideas! Players add magic to what you are playing. Even better, each Player can be combined with the others, allowing for endless experimentation.
Scales & Chords: the Scales & Chords Player filters and reassigns the notes played to the scale of your choice. With the chord mode, you play chords with one finger, always in the scale. Echo Note The name says it all. Note echo can create an echo of what you play in any tempo or intensity. Allow transposition to create a cascade of rising or falling notes.
