The specialist's opinion
The most meticulous collection of the world's best concert pianos
Specification
Recorded in one of the great 'temples of sound', the EAST WEST studios (awarded with more RIAA certified gold and platinum records than any other recording studio), with 3 microphone positions: The microphone is the element of the instrument responsible for transforming the vibration into an electrical signal and therefore by amplification into sound. There are two main types of microphones. First of all, the single pickups (single for single coil) made up of a magnet (ceramic or AlNiCo -aluminum / nickel and cobalt-) itself surrounded by a copper wire forming the coil. This type of microphone is quite sensitive to interference (electro-magnetic fields). To overcome the problem Gibson created in the 1950s humbuckers, also called "humbuckers". The humbucker is simply an association of inverted humbuckers, this combination allowing to filter the disturbances thanks to the inversion of the polarizations between the two microphones. In addition to these two characteristics the microphones can be active or passive, an active microphone adopts the same operation as a passive microphone, but its signal is directly processed by an amplifier, so it requires an external power supply traditionally in the form of batteries. The signal produced by an active microphone being very high they are mainly used for bass guitars. for each piano.
