When you sit down in front of a Sauter piano and begin to let yourself be carried away by its sounds, you are quickly transported into a cloud of generous harmonics.

The design of the Sauter pianos

Now let’s talk a bit about what interests us today. The design of the Sauter pianos.
What do you have in mind when it comes to acoustic pianos? Personally, I imagine something very traditional: an upright or grand piano, most of the time black and lacquered and gold hardware. And when we wonder what pianos looked like from 2 centuries ago, we imagine even more flourishes on the consoles, the music stand or even the stands. And with a more natural finish, revealing the wood or adorned with many varied decorations.

The Sauter Design series , developed in collaboration with the German interior designer Peter Maly , is very avant-garde and combines tradition and modernity. Each model of this line, very Art Deco, is unique and original. If you want to have a piano that is a work of art in its own right such as a Florentine statue, it is towards these models that you must turn.

And in addition to being part of the Master Class (Meisterklasse) , a range of high quality Sauter pianos, their style has been designed to become one with your interior, a subtle blend of abstract and sobriety .

Harmonic cubism … with the highly stylized Accento which plays on depth. At Boullard Musique, we have the model with the satin white front surface framed in black. There is something to be blown away in front of a piano that looks so simple with so much personality. It would fit perfectly into a home with a style that has character. At first glance, I would think of a relatively minimalist style… or neoclassical… but we can go further. Why not in a salon that is a little more baroque? Black, white and touches of purple or gold. Do you know the Bauhaus movement of the 1920s? Very contemporary and balanced! Perfect for showcasing this work of art! Even in a more Scandinavian or Japanese style, this piano will fit in without any worry.

I can’t help but present my favorite… the Rhapsody or modern elegance! Black lacquered cylinder, grooves, thin and black joints that blend perfectly with the rounded angles, thus highlighting the wood worked horizontally in order to highlight the grain and lines of the wood thus breaking the roundness of the piano … very modern in its shape and very traditional in its colors. When I’m near this piano or playing on it, I feel at home, safe and peaceful. I will place it in a large baroque-style living room in order to combine the warm side, the sobriety and the relatively dark colors of the Rhapsody with the more excessive side and made up of flourishes of inlays and gilding of the baroque or even empire style. And yet, it would fit just as well into a more modern habitat.

And this is what Sauter wants for its customers and its pianos, adapting to needs and desires without losing sight of its values that it has followed for two centuries. He wants a feeling of familiarity and warmth. Thanks to its passion and its innovative designs, the Sauter house can reinvent itself and make their pianos unique and artistic creations while offering quality and a most expressive playing. And their names speak for them… Rondo, Vitrea, Artes, Pure Noble, Ambiente, Vivace, or even Rhapsody.
